Michael L. Canning is a veteran with 20 years' executive management experience in the semiconductor industry, with a track record for driving innovation, rapid revenue growth, and product expansion. During this time, Mike pioneered the "fabless" manufacturing model, a concept now in use by the majority of semiconductor companies. As a founding executive at Cirrus Logic Inc., he contributed to the company's success as the fastest-growth semiconductor start-up, with revenues growth from zero to $1.1 billion in ten years. At Cirrus, Mike served as president and CEO of the company's Mass Storage Company, where he was responsible for $400 million in revenues. Mike also served as president and CEO of Stream Machine Company, a digital video compression company, where he raised $33 million in funding, and later arranged a successful acquisition by Cirrus Logic.
Kanwar Chadha
Founder SiRF Technology, Inc.
Kanwar Chadha is responsible for establishing the company's vision, corporate strategies and strategic alliances. He has over 20 years of experience in various marketing and management positions. Prior to founding SiRF, he served as General Manager of the multimedia group and Director of Strategic Marketing at S3 Inc. where he led the development of innovative audio and video processing technologies. Before joining S3, Kanwar was the Chairman and co-founder of AQuesT, Inc., a developer of multimedia and 3D graphics acceleration products. From 1983 to 1989, he was at Intel in various product-marketing positions including Product Line Manager for the i860 RISC processor and floating point coprocessors 8087/287/387. Kanwar holds a BSEE from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi; an MS in CIS from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia.
Sanjai Kohli
Chief Technical Officer
Sanjai Kohli was Founder & CTO of TrueSpan, a mobile video company acquired by SiRF in March 2006. Previously Sanjai was a cofounder, President & CEO of WirelessHome (WH)'98-'02. Proxim/Western Multiplex acquired WH in March 2001, achieving FY'02 sales of $36M for WH's product, in the first year of production. As a developer of a point to multipoint system, WH had a 9:1 price performance advantage over the competition. Sanjai remained at Proxim as the VP/GM for the Multipoint Systems Division, responsible for the Tsunami and Quick bridge product lines. Prior to WirelessHome, Sanjai was the cofounder, president & VP engineering of SiRF Technology. At SiRF he was responsible for the development of the first two generations of chip sets and software, including SirfstarII. Before SiRF, he founded Software Technology & Systems (STS) that developed smart munitions and spread spectrum technology, serving as its President and CEO. Sanjai holds a BS in Engineering from IIT Bombay and an MS in System Science from Washington University, St. Louis He has more than 20 published papers and 20 patents that have been issued.
Geoffrey Ribar
Chief Financial Officer & Senior VP of Finance
Geoffrey Ribar joins SiRF with over 20 years of semiconductor and finance experience, which includes nearly 10 years experience as a CFO. Geoff joins SiRF Technology from Matrix Semiconductor, where he was Chief Financial Officer. SanDisk recently acquired Matrix for approximately $250 million in stock and cash. He has prior experience as CFO at Asyst Technologies, IBEAM Broadcasting, Packard Bell NEC and NVIDIA, and as Vice President and Corporate Controller at AMD.
Joseph M. LaValle
Vice President of Sales
Joseph M LaValle comes to SiRF with over 20 years of sales management experience at Intel, Digital Equipment and 3M. Joe adds valuable knowledge and insight to SiRF around doing business in Asia, having spent 8 years on assignment in Japan and China, most recently as the Director of Sales Asia Pacific for Intel's Communications Sales Organization. He also served as General Manager of the Communications and Embedded Sales Group at Intel Japan and Director of Asia/Pacific Sales for Digital Equipment's Semiconductor Business.
Atul Shingal
Vice President of Operations
Atul Shingal brings more than 22 years of operations, engineering and quality management experience to SiRF. Atul's expertise is a key factor in ensuring that SiRF has access to leading edge semiconductor technologies through its partners as well as in meeting customer and partner expectations for product quality and delivery. Most recently, Atul served as vice president of operations for Globespan Virata, where he helped to drive increased revenues while consolidating and merging Globespan and Virata Operations into one group. Previously, he held management positions with Virata Corporation, Cypress Semiconductor and National Semiconductor.
Jim Murphy
Vice President of Human Resources
Jim Murphy joined SiRF in 2006 from LSI Logic, where he held multiple senior human resources management roles, most recently as Senior HR Director for the Engenio Storage Group, the Consumer Products Group and the worldwide sales organization. In that position, Jim successfully integrated the Engenio business with LSI. During his earlier position as Senior HR Director for North America, Jim initiated aggressive large scale recruiting campaigns, integrated employees from over a dozen acquisitions; and spearheaded highly successful retention, learning and development, and talent management initiatives. Previously, Jim held management positions with National Semiconductor and Fairchild Semiconductor.
Rob Baxter
Senior Vice President
Mr. Baxter has 30 years of global semiconductor experience in Consumer, Automotive and Telecom markets, with Centrality, Motorola Semiconductor, Texas Instruments, Chartered Semiconductor and Cubic Wafer (formerly Xanoptix).
Prior to SiRF, Mr. Baxter was President and CEO of Centrality Communications, Chief Executive at Xanoptix (now Cubic Wafer) and held the position of Senior Vice President and Member of Office of the President at Chartered Semiconductor Manufacturing.
Mr. Baxter also held Vice President and General Manager positions in Europe, USA and Asia during a 16-year career at Motorola. Amongst his accomplishments were the successful leadership of Motorola's European Microcontroller, DSP, and Microprocessor Operations, Advanced Digital Consumer Division based in Tokyo, and Consumer and Smartcard Microcontroller Division based in Austin.
John Quigley
Vice President of Engineering
Mr. Quigley has over 20 years of research and product development experience in the semiconductor and wireless products industry with Airgo Networks, Motorola Semiconductor, Siemens and Prisma.
Prior to SiRF, Mr. Quigley was the VP of Engineering for Airgo Networks (now Qualcomm) where he led the engineering teams introducing the industry's first three generations of commercially successful 802.11a/b/g compatible MIMO WLAN products.
Mr. Quigley also held the position of Global Director for Motorola Semiconductor Radio Product Design Operations and Manager of Motorola's Low Power Circuits and Systems Research Lab during his 13-year career at Motorola. His accomplishments include several successful R&D projects developing low power microcontrollers, digital signal processors, data converters and frequency synthesizers, founding what is now Freescale's Ireland Design Centre, leading the teams that first migrated the BiCMOS transceiver products to highly integrated CMOS solutions for 2G and EDGE transceivers and launching several generations of successful follow on transceivers in the cellular market. John received his BS and MSEE from Colorado State University, has 9 issued patents and over 20 publications and conference presentations.
